INDIANAPOLIS — Today Marion County Prosecutor Carl Brizzi released the “Brizzi Brief 2006”, a comprehensive plan for his office. The nearly 80 page document outlines the accomplishments of the Marion County Prosecutor’s office during Brizzi’s first term and what he will work to achieve during a second term.
“When voters elected me in 2002, I set out on a mission to be as tough on criminals as they are on innocent victims,” said Brizzi. “We stuck to our plan. We have made significant progress fighting Methamphetamine, increasing child support, and protecting our children from dangerous online predators. But there is more work to do.”
“Brizzi Brief 2006” is an in-depth plan that addresses the important issues facing Marion County, including the fight against Methamphetamine, how to better protect children from sexual predators, how to halt the spread of dangerous street gangs and how to reduce jail overcrowding.
“Voters have a right to know how candidates will govern when elected,” said Brizzi. “That is why we spent so much time putting together the Brief. It is a comprehensive plan that not only addresses what we’ve accomplished in the office these last four years, but also outlines our new approaches to combating crime.”
The Brief shares a number of new and innovative ideas and programs designed to improve the criminal justice system in Indianapolis. The proposals include the creation of a violent offender registry, which would report and track those convicted of the most violent crimes. The expansion of the Prosecutor’s office’s nationally recognized Community Prosecution division and a plan to rent an additional 220 jail beds in the Department of Correction’s New Castle facility are also proposals includes in “Brizzi Brief 2006.”
“I’m proud of the plan we put together,” said Brizzi. “It builds upon the knowledge and experience we’ve gained over the last four years and sets out an aggressive agenda for our next four years.”
